A Long Few Days

*This post was written at several different points in the day, hence the jumping around. ;)

This morning I woke up at 5am with my little demons running wild in my head. They come back to see me every once in a while just to screw with me. I’m fine, and I’m doing fine, but they just like to fill my head with brief moments of fear, doubt and anger. Like I said they’re little bastards.

So there was a lot of grunting and groaning in the yard this weekend, and no it wasn’t that kind either. Bryan and I finished replacing three fence posts in the backyard; and what a chore that was! Thank goodness for Blake’s auger or I just wouldn’t have been able to do it. The ground here is solid gray clay, and its darned near impossible to just use a shovel and dig through it. You almost want to reach for dynamite. Oh well, either way its finished and the fence doesn’t look “gheto” anymore.

Onto the next household problem, the AC unit. Seems every year its something different, which is why I buy the home warranty. Unfortunately this year I have been denied twice because the repairs were deemed as negligent home care. Like how in the hell was I supposed to know to remove the front of the blower unit, then pull off a plate, remove a triangle panel {whatever that is?!} and clean off the coil wires? Seriously … you’re freakin’ kidding me! I even watch all the home shows, the Bob Villa and such, and not one of those guys has ever pried open an ac unit and described it as “normal home care”. Needless to say I’ll not be renewing my home warranty next year. On the bright side, the AC in the house has never been better. Lesson learned I guess.

If that wasn’t enough of a personal beating, I then decided to do the lawn, and do a good spring job at it too. After than I thought how cool it might look for there to be some cannis, and some tall grass on the back “wall of death”. Needless to say several hours later I had completely remodeled the back wall with re-purposed parts from across the backyard. I split a few things up that had become overgrown and I think it really turned out nice. The irrigation system needed a tuning up too so I swapped out a few parts and now the “wall of death” is no more. As long as we use the irrigation system that is …

Alright people, I am pooped. I know I owe several of you calls and or emails and I promise to get to them as soon as I have a beer and several hours of uninterrupted sleep. For now just take a look at the picture set linked to the image in this post. Goodnight kids.

The morning cacophony

Well I would like to issue a big shout out {whatever the hell that really means} to the HOA again for the free alarm clock.  I was up like clockwork again at 5:35am when the traffic started getting thick and the horns started blowing.  No need for that new one I bought.  In fact, I’m taking it back today.  Why spend money if you don’t have to, right?!

So yea, I kind woke up a little pissy this morning.  The noise thing has really gotten under my skin.  I used to wake up in the backyard with the girls, a cup of coffee, the paper, and some resemblance of silence.  But now with the traffic and the damned pool pump its like a concert hall of wondrous noise.  I’m changing pool guys this year, so maybe I’ll have him swap out the pump too.  Why not?  A new one has to be quieter.  At least I can control that part of the noise.
{control, yea I know … I got my own words … }

Well time to get to work kids.  The day is absolutely going to get better isn’t it  … yes it is, or I’ll snap someone’s freakin’ kneck.  Have a splendid afternoon.

Strong Password Protection

So it seems I did some security updates last night to the ole’ blog here and they may have been a bit too strong.  I couldn’t even log into my own site on my Mac, and had to resort to a PC to log in and disable the newer password protection engine.  Weird … browser (IE) and platform (WIN) specific restrictions for logging into your site … must be a side effect of multiple security plugins … I’ll have to do more reading …

Well that was my firedrill so far this morning.  Hopefully those are over and done for the day.  Everyone knows how much I enjoy that first thing in the morning.  I am surprisingly handling things better these days.  I say surprising but I’m really not surprised.  I rarely get that intensity anymore and I have managed to channel it for show-site use only.  Seems that part of me is a bit more than necessary for normal daily life.  Learn from your past experiences right.

Although I am going to use the hell out of that side of me this weekend when I replace 4 fence posts.  This is going to be a bunch of work, but I have to do it and after this weekend I’m gone until basically June.  So its now or never. I decided to repair the fence this year and replace it next year.  One thing at a time.

It will be a great workout though.  F#&k the health gym membership, just take a few weeks in my shoes.  Between the cardiovascular workout of running to rooms all day long, loading and unloading gear, mixed with the occasional fence pole digging, you can see why my metabolism is what it is again and why I seem to still out run the younger guys.

Ok, enough jibberish … time to go to the office.
Have a good day kids.

chili day

Today was a busy day, but a good one.  The highlight was a great lunch today sponsored by Scotty P.  He brought food from his weekend trip and turned it into kick ass fajita burritos from hell.  So to try and stay on track I took the leftovers tonight and made some chili with it.  I’m interested to see how hot is is in the end.  As it stands now at 11:15pm it has a few hours to go before I let it just simmer and settle and its got quite a kick.  So if thats any indication we may have a good ass kickin’ batch going here.  I’ll keep my fingers crossed … at least as much as my eyes are right now.  You know I have always followed the famous cajun chef in his philosophy about how much the dish gets and how much the cook gets.  I always liked his proportions.  Seemed the cook was always happy in the end.  ;)

That being said, I’m calling it a night.
The boogeyman and I will see you at 4:30am when we check the chili …

Poolman

I spent a great deal of time cleaning and reviving the pool this weekend. I have a good system down for regular maintenance, but that first cleaning after a few months or so of no use is always fun. I find all kinds of things in the systems various filters. And those main filters were gross. Despite all of this I managed to get everything working smoothly and I’m on the way to a nice clean pool. I’m not going to get to resurface it this year like I had hoped, but that’s ok.

I really only have one week left before I’m out until June. May is crazy busy for me. I’m only home six days in May so that’s why the mad rush to get the house prepped for summer. It sounds crazy but thats what it will be like when I finally stop in June. Which kind of sucks. I’m missing the entire spring in Texas this year. Bummer, especially since the yard is yielding a bunch of new color this year. The purple Lily in the back has a dozen or so flower blooming right now, and its been years since that happened.

{shut up, I can be masculine and talk about purple flowers … }

I also have a good crop of pepper coming in too. There are greens, yellows, orange, red, jalepeno, anaheim, and poblano peppers this year. Plus a few other little goodies like broccoli and spinach. So we’ll see what there is when I get home. It sounds like the timing will be perfect and my beer will have aged enough that I may have a stuffed pepper beer fest or something. Lord knows I’ll need a party or something by then to blow off the steam I’m going to accumulate. ;)

Ok, enough rambling for now. Time to make the donuts …
Have a good day kids.

Well I’ll be …

For the very first time the yard has welcomed a new color. These were planted long ago and nearly forgotten. But with the palm trees giving as much shade as they do, the little purple guys seem to have found a home. This was a nice surprise when I came home.

For the first day back in the office today was a good one, but then it was also a full one. Its funny how some people get a lot done in a very short period of time discussing things with peers as opposed to endless meetings and emails. We knocked out a ton by lunch and had game plans for the rest. Its nice to be in a team again.

My next few weeks will be full of work and travels as we enter the nut-so season. Nothing new, its that time of year. Bring on the frequent flier miles!

Well time for some rest. I’m still catching up with the time difference.
Have a good night kids.

WTF?! Where did my sound barrier go?

I came home to this … are you serious people … really …

So I understand that I was out of town during the HOA meeting and could not attend to state my case concerning the height of the “trim” but this is nuts. The noise is already an issue ever increasing in a negative direction, and this is not going to help the situation at all. Sure I agree they needed to be groomed, but was cutting off three feet necessary?
I’m utterly disgusted.

I am really happy to be home again, despite how short it will be. This next few weeks will be the heaviest for the year. I think I’m home five days in May, so a vacation might be in order somewhere. We’ll have to see.

I have a few new tidbits for you that I picked up in my travels …

On the road again …

I’m in Long Beach, CA working on the AOT show this week. This one is an easy show, but with a few twists. I have a new crew a new system for the client, and three off-site properties. So easy, yes. But with a twist. Should be fine though. Yea, piece of cake …

I’ll try and post some more videos and pictures in the viewer below. I started messing with it and then got sidetracked, so I’ll try7 and get back on it.

Alright kids, time to make the donuts. Have a good day.

PS.  I have no idea who those people are in funny face paint.  I’ll have to change my tag structure or something … jeez …

Go Mav’s

So lately I have been paying attention to the Mavericks, and tonight is a do or die game. I know, me, basketball … really. But yea, somehow I have become interested in basketball. Which is feakin’ weird considering I can’t play it worth a crap. I think I actually failed that part of Phys Ed. I know, I know laugh it up bub.

Not a whole lot for me to say tonight that is worth any literary value. I have been going at it pretty good in preparation for Long Beach next week. I need to nail this one. It’s the favorite client of my boss, so no pressure there. But then again I did that kind of shit. Lately the more pressure the better. Like the Thailand show will probably be. I think I may be developing a small niche with this client, which is cool. But man are they nuts. I have never seen such a mess at times. But hey, nobody dies at these things so who really cares at the end of the day. I mean you do, but only to a point otherwise you would go home and shoot people. And yea, not so good …

Ok enough jiberish. Go Mav’s
Goodnight kids.
