Sweet Caroline …
Damn, I just heard that song on the morning news and now its going to be stuck in my head all day. Oh well, could be worse right?! It could have been “Ice, Ice, Baby” or something.
Yes, I frigin’ know, I haven’t been writing like I was supposed to. So that’s why I am doing this now. I figure a little is better than none. Plus I ‘ve had way to much coffee this morning. Hence the short sentences. See.
I bottled my first batch of beer last night, and man was that cool. I came out with 51 bottles of what smelled and tasted like a Dos Equis clone. The package showed a Corona, but the color of this was just too red’ish for that. It is going to be good though, if I do say so myself. It had a much lighter feel and taste than any other homebrew I have tried. But then again my friends that brew typically make dark, heavy beers. I’m hoping that changes and it may have because I heard that DILFER got himself a cold brewing system and a keg kit. So this summer should be a good one for beer. I guess I am going to have to add a few more laps to my running regiment. When I get back on it. Lately I have been so unmotivated to run. My knees are not what they used to be. Maybe I’ll go mountain biking instead. The weather is getting warmer and the trails should be nice and dry.
Ok kids, time for me to go to work. Have a good day.
Been a while, huh?!
Wow it has been 10 days since I last posted something. Jeez, I’ve been crazy busy but man, that’s pretty lame of me. I’ll have to work on that (again).
So what’s new? Well the house is almost officially closed on, and that’s good. Although its been a mind numbing experience since December of last year. Yea, thanks to the friends and family deal I got to not only watch the market ebb, flow, and then tank, but I got to ride the bitch like it was a drunk horny LSD educed bull. What a ride. For anyone else jumping in to that situation, I recommend Dramamine.
I also had a great time at the St. Patrick’s Day Party on Lower Greenville. I spent the day/night (and next morning/afternoon) hanging out with someone just having a good time and enjoying the incredible weather we had that day. It was totally unusual and 80 or so with perfect sunny skies and a nice breeze. I couldn’t have asked for a better day.
That also brings up something else new that’s going on, I am actually dating again. Yep, me. I know, I know, I should have been doing this for some time now, but finding someone interesting has proven difficult, until now of course. The match.com experience has been another one for the WTF books. I have received winks from some seriously strange women. But oh well, it makes for great conversations with friends. Seems many of my married friends are now looking to live vicariously through me. So I guess I better step it up a notch then.
Well the rest of what’s been going on is fairly mundane and normal, for me at least. You know the usual; fence blowing down again, Paloma losing another collar, Bunny’s hair tearing up another vacuum, Paloma bringing in another screaming bird in her mouth at 5:40am, you know normal daily stuff.
So there you have it kids. It’s been a fun last few days and I’m looking forward to a cool night tonight. We’re thinking about catching a sunset. Nice and simple, I like it.
Have a good day kids.
surfing lesson, step 1
So I’m back from Hawaii again, and yes I know, its taken a bit for me to post. Things have been busy as usual but with an unexpected nice turn. I had a very good evening the other night and with any luck … well, that’s all I’ll say for now. Don’t want to jink anything or put a cart before a water buffalo or something like that.
As you can see from the shot above I went surfing. Ok so maybe you can’t really tell thats me buried in the surf below the board, about to be smacked in the head; trust me, its me. Really though, I had a great time surfing and got up about 80% of the time, but I also had what the photographer said were “some of his best crash and burn shots ever!” And with that I give you the gallery of my surfing experience, for all its glory, sweat, puke, and effort … yea, what you think sea water stays down … silly mainlander …
The drive to see the waves on the north shore was really cool too. I had never experienced driving through lava formed paths like that before. I’ll try and update this to include some video I shot while driving so you can see what I am talking about. Some truly awe inspiring stuff …
Ok , these circles under my eyes don’t make themselves folks … goodnight kids.
Another Day In Paradise
I’m in Honolulu today and it is yet another day in paradise. I’m almost finished with the show I’m working (ENA) and I’m getting ready for an excursion of sorts tomorrow. A couple of us are going to rent a car and drive to the North Shore to see the sunset and hang out there for a night, and then in the morning we’ll get in some quality beach time. We’re renting a caddy too so we’ll be cruising the island in style!
Look out locals …
On Tuesday morning I’m taking a private surf lesson, which is something I have always wanted to do. Its not cheap, but I figure I deserve something of a reward for saving money over the last few months. I know, I’m supposed to spend that money on the house (and hte fence that fell down while I was here) but sometimes you just have to play. Besides, the rest of the year will be a little hectic so why not take the time while you have it, right?!
I have been taking panoramic shots while here and I posted them in my flickr account, which is supposed to update the images at the top of this page but its not working. So if you want to see any of those pictures then just click an image above and browse through the “bigshots” set it takes you to. I got a nice one from the beach on Waikiki beach just after sunset last night. So check it out. See ya for now kids … ma halo …
